The Gifted Referral and Assessment Window (September 8 - 11, 2026) is now open. Students are considered for gifted assessment through the automatic or reported referral process.

Automatic Referrals: All students in grades K – 8 will participate in a nationally norm-referenced assessment for achievement. Students who score at or above the 85^th percentile in reading or math will be “automatically” referred for a gifted screening. 

Reported Referrals: A student may also be referred for a gifted screening via the “reported” referral process. A student may be referred by teachers, counselors, administrators, parents or guardians, peers, self, or other individual with knowledge of the student’s abilities. If a reported referral is preferred, please contact the GMS Counseling Office September 8 - 11, 2026.
