Career Development

A large focus for the Glynn Middle School Guidance Department is assisting in the career development of our students as they transition to high school. Our objective is to encourage students to begin exploring, planning and developing academic and career goals.

6th, 7th and 8th grade students are provided counseling and advisement on career awareness and development. By 8th grade, students will create and Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP) that will be used to assist in developing a high school schedule and 4 year plan of study.

YouScience is a career and college informational website used by students starting in the 6th grade. Each student will be given an account which will follow them throughout their middle and high school years. Each student's account will contain information from his or her career assessments as well as maintain information on different careers, colleges and plans saved by the student. The goal is for high school students to successfully complete their Individual Graduation Plans, preparing them for a seamless transition to postsecondary study, further training or employment (Bridge Bill - Section 20-2-327).

Parents may also create an account on GCIS and may monitor and assist their children as they explore career options and create academic and career goals for themselves.
