The 7th and 8th Grade Symphonic Band is the top performing ensemble in the GMS Band Program. Membership is determined by audition with a prerequisite of participation in the Beginning Band or study with a private instructor. This band performs music of grade 3-4 difficulty in preparation for high school band.
In addition to the Christmas and Spring Concerts, this band also performs at many school and community functions including charity events, parades, and featured performances. Students have the opportunity to audition for honor bands such as the GMEA All-District, All-Region, and All-State Bands.
The Symphonic Band also represents Glynn Middle each year at the GMEA Large Group Performance Evaluations where they perform prepared pieces before a panel of judges.
