Music Appreciation is a unique class that is is offered for 7th grade students. In Music App, students will have the opportunity to learn more about music at a deeper level and explore topics and activities that we usually do not have time for in the regular Band class.
In Music App, students will have the chance to learn to play a secondary instrument, learn the basics of playing guitar, perform in chamber ensembles and other small groups, and prepare projects in the areas of music composition, music technology, popular artist and genre research, and more. There will also be a heightened focus on continued technical development of each student's playing skills as they prepare for honor band auditions and other special events.
Students who choose to take Music App should also enroll in the regular Band class as well; regular Band and Music App will be their two Connections periods.
